Michael N. Geraci

In November 2007 Michael N. Geraci joined the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSA) Headquarters in Washington, DC as the Director, Office of Safety Programs. In 2012 he was selected as the NHTSA Region 1 Administrator with agency responsibilities for all of New England. In June of 2015 he also assumed leadership of Region 2 with responsibilities for NY, NJ, PA, PR and the USVI. Prior to him joining NHTSA, Mike concluded 32 years in a law enforcement career as the Chief of Police in the Capital District area of New York. Among other career assignments he is a former Drug Recognition Expert, a Crash Reconstructionist, a paramedic and Director of Emergency Management. He was the first police officer in the United States to be awarded the Mothers Against Drunk Driving national recognition for combating impaired driving and was honored by NHTSA, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the State of New York for lifetime career achievements in highway safety. Mike is a graduate of the FBI National Academy; he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Empire State College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Marist College.
